    Solution :-

Let the original length of the plank be x meter

    The carpenter cuts off the 5x/12 m of its length = x – 5x/12

    = 7x/12

Now, after cutting 5/12 meter, the length of the remaining piece = 7x/12 meter

    Now, 6/7 of the remaining piece is cut = (7x/12) × (6/7)

    = 42x/84

    = x/2 meter

Remaining piece of plank = 5/2 meter

    Now, according to the question.

    ⇒ x = 5x/12 + x/2 + 5/2

    ⇒ x = (5x + 6x + 30)/12

    ⇒ 12x = 11x + 30

    ⇒ 12x – 11x = 30

    ⇒ x = 30

So, the original length of the plank is 30 meters.
